The Supremes was a pioneer all-women group, famous and well-loved, that serenaded our ears and hearts in the 1960s with evergreen hits like “You Can’t Hurry Love,” “Baby Love,” and “Stop! In the Name of Love.”
The Beatles
Arguably the greatest boy band of all time, the British band, The Beatles, touched as much as they broke the hearts of many teenage girls of the 1960s. They churned out hits like “I Want to Hold Your Hand”, “Help!,” and “Yesterday”.
Queen
Queen was more of a rock band, but their up-tempo hits and powerful vocals and style of lead singer Freddie Mercury set them on the pedestal of the pop music greats. Some of their hits like “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “Don’t Stop Me Now” made them different from their contemporaries.
Sly and the Family Stone
Led by Sly Stone, the band had hits like “Dance to the Music” and “Everyday People” cementing their place in the greatest pop groups of America’s ’60s and ’70s music scene. It was also one of America’s first major inter-racial pop groups.
The Beach Boys
Cutting the image of the American dream, this pop group produced songs that still hang to the heart to this day. Led by Brian Wilson with his brothers and friends in tow, The Beach Boys were ever-present on the American charts for decades.
ABBA
This Swedish group was the earliest Eurovision sensation to break into the American music scene in the ’70s with disco-pop hits like “Dancing Queen” and “The Winner Takes It All”.
The Temptations
The Temptations were an all-male quintet from the Motown stable that are still together. They held America spellbound with hits like “My Girl,” “Ain’t Too Proud to Beg,” and “Papa Was a Rollin’ Stone”.
Destiny’s Child
This girl group comprising of Beyoncé Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams was one pop music group that emerged in the 2000s and stamped their impact on the sand of time with hit tracks like “Say My Name,” “Survivor,” and “Jumpin’, Jumpin”.
Bee Gees
This pop music group was formed in 1958 comprising of brothers Barry, Robin, and Maurice Gibb. They were especially successful as a popular music group in the late ’60s and early ’70s. They became more prominent in the disco music era of the mid-to-late ’70s.
Fleetwood Mac
This is a British-American rock band formed in London in 1967. With more than 100 million records sold worldwide, it is one of the best-selling pop music groups in history.
